The QDS Logo

The QDS, Inc. logo is based on an Egyptian symbol known as the Right Eye of Horus.

The falcon god Horus is one of the oldest and most recognized in Egyptian mythology. He was the son of Ra, the sun god.

Each of Horus' eyes has different meanings. According to lore Ra replaced each of Horus' damaged eyes with the sun and the moon.

The left eye represents the moon and is associated with intuition and magic and is generally referred to as the eye of 'feminine' traits, wheras the right eye represents the sun and is associated with reason and mathematics, an eye of 'masculine' traits.

The right eye of horus defines things analytical, and is constituted of 6 separate parts that signified the six senses (the Egyptians treated thought as a sense).

The right eye is also used in mathematics to describe fractions. It is divided into separate parts that together form a heqat, a unit of measurement signifying input. The size of each fraction represented the importance of each of the senses with regards to the magnitude of their sensory input to the whole.

Curiously, the sum of the parts of 1 heqat is short one 64th...the answer lies in the mythology.

Information on the breakdown of the parts of the right eye of Horus can be found here.
